Linux is a great Operating System. I won’t lie when I say that I love Linux, what with it’s vast amount of functionality, it’s high level of customisation, the variety of OS flavours and the communities that work day and night developing on it and for it (not to mention that it’s all OpenSource and free!). If I could I wouldn’t use anything else to run my machines. What stops me? Well the simple fact that gaming is not a strong point of the OS, with varying quality of Graphic Card drivers and the lack of developer interest video games just haven’t taken off on the platform.
However, with the news that the Unity3D 4.0 game engine will support Linux as a release platform, we’re one step closer to the day when Linux will be a viable gaming OS.
